About the book
After months of waiting, Pearl Buckley, an eighteen-year-old student living in 1924, has finally been accepted as a patron artist for a wealthy Southern family. Her dreams are in sight as she travels to Fairhope, Alabama from her schooling in Atlanta, to paint portraits for the De La Vasco’s estate. With only a little guidance from her Professor, Pearl is thrust into the life of a very peculiar family.
Secrets, riches, and death are quickly uncovered in this small town. Things are not what they seem. Can she uncover if it is all lies or something much more sinister lurking in the shadows? In the end, Pearl must decide to stand for her future or succumb to the De La Vasco’s deadly ways.
Will Pearl keep afloat while the De La Vasco’s world revolves precariously around her, or will her dreams be torn asunder?

Art is a primary theme woven throughout Cold Magnolia. You’ll follow a fledgling artist, Pearl Buckley, who must uncover the secrets of her benefactor’s family history and decided if continuing along this new journey will be her demise or her success. You’ll see from Pearl’s perspective how art influences her identity, peers, and surroundings as she navigates the social pressures of this unique estate.

It is possible… I have lengthy back stories for the member’s of the de la Vasco that I would love to share in a prequel style novel. I also want to see Pearl flourish and be challenged in an academic setting back at Harrison’s with possibly more paranormal intervention.
As of right now, I am working on a novella set in 1950s Nevada. It takes place in the same ‘universe’ as Cold Magnolia, so you might hear some familiar names. It is a genre switch compared to Cold Magnolia. I’m exploring a lighter tone with some rom-com plot lines. (Still a small town, some supernatural elements, and girl power!)
